Statement by the Russian Embassy in Denmark

STATEMENT BY THE RUSSIAN EMBASSY IN DENMARK

Statements by some of Danish politicians and experts regarding alleged Russia’s connection to the fabrication of the letter addressed by Ane Lone Bagger, Minister of Education, Culture, Church and Foreign Affairs of Greenland, to Tom Cotton, US Senator, that were published by «Politiken» on November 12, 2019, are irresponsible and groundless and are based on a false vision of Russia’s Arctic policy.

Russia carries out a large-scale program on social and economic development of the Russian part of the Arctic, which envisages implementation of projects estimated at dozens billions USD, and is interested in strengthening trust and confidence between the Arctic States, as well as maintaining stability and security in the region. Russia has never interfered and is not interfering in relationships between the Arctic States.
Architects of this provocation should be sought among those who does not appreciate strengthening of the positions of the Russian Federation in the Arctic and the low tension in the region, and who strives to substitute the constructive cooperation among the Arctic States for the policy of confrontation and mutual alienation.
