Russian Round-the-World Expedition "On the Way of Russian Seafarers around the World"

Due to the quarantine restrictions in Denmark banning entry for the EU and the Schengen zone non-residents, the frame-inflatable sailing trimaran of the Russian Geographical Society (RGO) failed to enter the Kingdom that was part of the round-the-world expedition "On the way of Russian round-the-world sailors". The head of the expedition is the First Deputy of the Tomsk Branch of the Russian Geographical Society E. Kovalevsky, the captain of the trimaran - S. Berezkin.

However, in the period from July 16 to July 18 the Russian ship was in the port of Malmö, where, through the joint efforts of Russian compatriots living in Denmark and Sweden, the Russian Embassy in Denmark and the Russian Consulate General in Gothenburg, an extensive cultural program and meetings with the local community were organized.

In particular, Associate Professor of the Department of Geography of the University of Copenhagen A. Prishchepov (a direct descendant of the great Russian navigator I. Kruzenshtern) arrived from Denmark to meet the trimaran of the Russian Geographical Society, who, taking the opportunity, conveyed to the Russian crew a welcome letter from the Secretary of the Royal Danish Geographical Society A. Christensen. As part of the conversation, a discussion of the prospects for establishing and developing cooperation between the Tomsk branch of the Russian Geographical Society and Danish interested organizations took place.

We express our gratitude to the head of the organization of compatriots "Russian Society in Denmark" I.Ivanchenko for the assistance provided to the crew of the Russian trimaran in the preparation of the program in Sweden.
