Commentary of the Embassy regarding the call of the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada O.Kondratiuk on the Folketing
On September 17-19 elections of deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation will take place.
In connection with the publication on the website of the Embassy of Ukraine in Denmark regarding the call of the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk on the Folketing not to recognize the results of elections held in the territory of Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk regions, we underline that voting is holding on the territory of the Russian Federation, and only citizens of Russia can vote. Neither Luhansk nor Donetsk regions of Ukraine are part of the Russian Federation.
As for Crimea, which became part of the Russian Federation in 2014 as a result of a referendum in which the population of the peninsula by an absolute majority of votes (over 95%) voted for its return to Russia, the residents of the Republic have every right, in accordance with Russian law, to elect and be elected during the state elections.
